PUTTING SPEED CONTROL | AIMPOINT SPEED & BLAST MOTION

Of all the putting skills, speed control is arguably the most important one. For years, getting better at controlling speed on the greens was simply an exercise in trail and error. Hit enough putts over a number of years to ultimately learn how best to do it – but that takes a LONG time. In the meantime, the countless wasted strokes on the green are a constant frustration for golfers around the world EVERY SINGLE DAY! There must be a better way?!?!?

AimPoint, which is best know as its green-reading system AIMPONIT EXPRESS, have also developed a SPEED training class based on different stroke lengths and different forward stroke timings to help golfers develop the skill of speed through controlled drills which provide vital feedback.

The science behind how to control distance/speed has been poorly understood until recently when it’s been possible to accurately measure what the player and the putter is doing. Using some form of technology to measure what is happening is, in my opinion, absolutely vital if you’re serious about improving your putting, as anything else is just a wild guess.

At GOLFTEC, we use the BLAST MOTION training aid which gives immediate feedback on a number of metrics, and in this video we’ll take a look at the relationship between BACKSWING LENGTH, FORWARD STROKE TIME, and STROKE TIMING and see how those pieces fit together to build a putting stroke that is capable of adjusting to different putt lengths and different greens speeds – without taking years and years!

Go and take a lesson with an AimPoint Certified Instructor, or get down to your local GOLFTEC for a putting lesson or an Edel putter fitting which can fine tune the weight of your putter to help you find the best balance of putter to fit your best stroke timing.
