The heavy bag is one of the best training tools for boxing. You can work on your technique, your conditioning, sparring scenarios, punching power and speed and more. In this video I break down my 10 favourite heavy bag drills.
1. Head body head – throw punches up to the head, then attack the body, then come back upstairs to the head.
2. Work on hook ranges on the heavy bag, short, medium and long range.
3. Dempsey Roll, move your head side to side as you throw hooks and overhand punches.
4. Punch and move in and out while hitting the bag.
5. Working the jab, single, double, triple and quadruple jab while moving out.
6. Focus on breathing and relaxation while throwing high volume combos.
7. Work on moving to the right with footwork, or to the left if you are southpaw.
8. Practice your head movement with slipping and ducking between your punches.
9. Bend your knees and hit low to develop endurance and stability in your legs
10. Work on boxing defense with the block and counter, do it until it gets smooth.
