Mike Reiman on Hip Dysplasia/Microinstability Injuries and Finding Success as a Clinician

Today on the podcast I geek out with Duke faculty member & physical therapy researcher, Mike Reiman. One of the most stressful areas for clinicians & coaches is hip injuries, hypermobile, loose gymnast hips. Mike is doing phenomenal work putting out great information on hip dysplasia. We dive into this as it’s often not talked about. But there’s a lot of great research now which means better tools to understand how to help athletes.

We DISCUSS why you should be hanging out with surgeons if you want to work with hips.

The DIFFERENCE between Hip dysplasia and or instability.

The IMPORTANCE of mentorship, what it really is, and how to approach someone.

DECIPHERING protocols for hip surgeries.

HOW somebody can be stiff and loose at the same time.

Mike explains THE EPIC RETURN – what to do early on to help with symptoms or build strength.
