Distance control on the greens is dictated by how fast your putter head is moving. The best way to develop consistent distance control is by having good tempo in your putting stroke. This means having the putter move at a consistent pace. You’re not adding speed at the bottom of the stroke one time, then decelerating the next time. Take practice strokes and feel this consistent tempo, then add the golf ball. The goal should be maintain the tempo with the ball down.
