Q.
If you pick up your ball believing it was conceded by your opponent in match play, what is the ruling if it wasn’t actually conceded?

A.
If was reasonable to assume from the actions/sounds of the opponent that the putt was conceded, there is no penalty and you must replace your ball.
If it wasn’t reasonable to assume such concession, then you incur a one stroke penalty and must replace your ball.
