I’ve been using the Whoop Strap 3.0 EVERY DAY for the past three months… here’s my final verdict on whether you should get one too:

There are lots of things I love about Whoop. Here are the top 5:
1 – Activity Recognition (1:23)
– The Whoop Strap 3.0 is truly incredible at recognizing activities. They also have added new sports like Pickleball and Crossfit, so it’s clear that they are continually trying to improve this.
– Also, huge shoutout to the awesome commenters who helped me understand how the strain calculator works!
2 – Sleep tracking (2:48)
– Considering the comfort of the strap, and the great battery life, it is so easy to wear it to bed. I love the ability to see my recovery after a good nights sleep, and it does do a good job of tracking sleep phases, and sleep consistency.
3 – HR Broadcast (3:37)
– Since the Whoop 3.0 has the ability to broadcast my HR, I can sync it to Strava for a run, or Zwift for a bike ride, and not have to worry about a chest HR strap. Accuracy, in my personal testing, has been great. I have nothing to complain about in that department!
4 – Lack of Notifications (4:04)
– This may be a negative for a lot of people, but not having notifications on my wrist has actually been a net benefit for me, so I wanted to include it in this list! I like the simplicity of it, but it does have some drawbacks…
5 – Lightweight / Comfort (4:46)
– I talked about this in my first impressions video as well, so this may be repetitive, but even after a few months of wearing it every day, I love the comfort and lightness! It makes sleep tracking, exercise, and daily use so much easier!
While there are a lot of positives, here are the things I think need some improvement for the Whoop Strap 3.0:
1 – No Display (5:29)
– This did wear on me over time. Especially with data-intensive workouts, like running, it is so great to have key information on your wrist at a glance. I would say having at least a clock would make a big difference for me… since wearing a watch and a whoop band feels a little odd.
2 – No GPS (run with a phone) (6:36)
– Ideally, I’d be able to go out for a run with just a watch and earbuds, but the Whoop makes this more difficult. I like being able to track through the Whoop app, but that does mean you will need to bring your phone along!
3 – Charging Speed / Capacity (7:22)
– It took a very long time to charge, and I never made it to 100%. I believe this is due to the fact that the batter pack can hold a single charge, but since you are using the band while charging it, some of that juice is depleted during charging.
4 – Water-Logging / Swimming (8:25)
– There is currently a band called the HydroBand on their website for $12 that you can put over the watch while you are swimming to avoid this, so if you are planning some hard sets in the pool, you may need it.
– In addition, I don’t love that the strap stays wet for so long! It has turned into a hassle for me so I avoid getting it wet when I can.
5 – Membership (9:20)
– It looks like we all agree that a monthly membership is not an easy way to pay for a wearable.
My Decision:
You’ll have to watch the video for that info 😉
