Today’s guest is Pete Holman who I had the honor to meet in person at the 2019 IDEA East Conference!
Pete is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Physical Therapist specializing in biomechanics, sports performance, and outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapy. He has worked with NFL champion Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis and Hall of Fame blindside tackle from the New Orleans Saints Willie Roaf, world champion ski racer Chris Davenport, X-Games Gold medalist Mike Schultz, and MMA fighters Brendan Schaub, Shane Carwin, and Elliot Marshal. His company, Aspen Core Fitness, and product RIPCORE-FX, was acquired by industry-leading functional fitness training company TRX. I developed and launched RipTraining education and programming worldwide with the help of some brilliant minds at TRX. Although he is no longer at TRX, he continues to travel the world presenting on core performance, foundational movement training, and sports medicine. He also consults on startup products beginning their launch into the fitness industry. Competitively, he was a US National TaeKwon-Do champion and team captain for the US National TaeKwon-Do Team. He holds an I.S.K.A. super cruiserweight freestyle kickboxing title from Colorado and was a two-time Bas Rutten “tough-man” champion. He grew up in Colorado Skiing, Snowboarding, Biking, and trail running but owe most of my athleticism to my first love: Soccer. His focus as a professional educator is on improving human movement and motivating others to bring out the best in themselves.
In today’s episode, we discussed the following topics:
The different types of martial arts techniques and the importance of self-defense.
What is the difference between corrective exercise and functional training? How they’re both overlapped and important for our training.
How to organize our spine during our workouts, and what it actually means.
And much more!
