How Four Ohio Clubs Celebrate a Shared Golf Heritage

In 2021, four Cleveland-area clubs—Kirtland Country Club, Canterbury Golf Club, Chagrin Valley Country Club and Lakewood Country Club—will all observe the 100-year anniversary of their founding. To mark their unique sharing of the milestone, club leaders have united to plan a four-club golf competition, with an annual event to follow. The 1921 Cup, as it will be known, will be contested this year at Kirtland CC, with a tentative rotation in place to move it around to the other clubs in future years. The plan is to have 100 golfers—23 members and two professionals from each club—compete in a Stableford points format. At stake will be pro shop credits and the right for the winning club to possess a traveling trophy, along with area bragging rights.
