Dylan McCaffrey transferred to Northern Colorado to play for his father, Ed McCaffrey, and Zach Charbonnet transferred to the UCLA Bruins to return back to his home state of California (seems to be a popular thing to do amongst Lions (see Matthew Stafford) and Ex-Wolverines (see Jedd Fisch, Wilton Speight and Devin Asiasi)).

Dylan took a long time to decide to officially hit the transfer portal. We discuss here whether or not there may have been a second thought on returning to Ann Arbor with the quarterback room looking much more open than what it was last season when he “lost” the job. With Joe Milton struggling, Cade McNamara being raw, and JJ McCarthy being a freshman, perhaps there was a final discussion between Jim Harbaugh and Dylan McCaffrey before they ultimately decided it was best to part ways.
As far as Zach Charbonnet’s situation goes, let’s be honest: That running back group ended up being STACKED, and even more so with the addition of 5-star running back Donovan Edwards.
