Michigan defeats Sparty 69-50 in dominant fashion behind 19 points out of Franz Wagner (leading scorer in 3-of-4 outings for the Wolverines) and a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) out of Hunter Dickinson. Franz was 4-6 from three-point range. The Wolverines were 7-16 as a team in that category, while they held the Spartans to 0-9 behind the arc.
Aaron Henry was the only Michigan State player with an effort worth noting. He went 6-15 for 14 points and added in 5 rebounds. His helper Joshua Langford had a rough day. Langford shot 2-10 for just 6 points. The Wolverines defense was suffocating and collective, and it showed across the board against the Spartans offense.
Michigan moves to 19-2 on the season and looks to finish strong in an effort to wrap up a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Michigan State looks to simply make it as they fall to 14-11. These two teams will meet again in East Lansing on Sunday for a rematch and well…they both need a win for different reasons.
Lastly, congrats to my man Juwan Howard for winning the Big Ten in just his second season as head coach. Who said the man couldn’t work the X’s and O’s?
