Swing Myth: Keeping Face Square To Path

If you’ve watched any golf on TV, you’ve probably heard the commentator describe a particularly accurate shot as the golfer having kept his clubface square to the path. It makes sense, and in with some camera angles, it seems to look that way. But does it really happen? Can (and do) great players really keep their face square on the downswing? And more importantly, is it something to strive for in your swing?
