Ulnar deviation is the reason most people don’t play golf well. It’s the action of pointing the shaft toward the ball in an effort to “make the clubhead hit the ball.” This action is completely unnecessary. When we swing a baseball bat we swing it butt-end first and allow the meat of the bat to swing out and strike the ball – we don’t manually point the bat toward the ball. The same is true in golf. If you imagine swinging the butt-end backward at an imaginary ball (The Holy Grail Method) the weight of the clubhead will cause the club to swing out and strike the ball. There is no need to assist the club in doing its job. You can’t stop it if you tried, really. As a matter of fact maybe you should try to see that you don’t need to help it. Try to swing the club upside down, butt-end first through the entire swing and see what happens. The club rockets out and around much faster than you could ever do manually. As a matter of fact your hands can’t keep up which is why we get wear on the gloves.
Golf should not be a struggle. Golf should not be hard. Golf is easy if you know the secret.
Start playing golf well. Gain confidence and have more fun playing golf.
Dustin Johnson, Cameron Champ, Rory McIlroy, Joaquín Niemann and Tommy Fleetwood all hit the ball with this method.
