Many failed golf swing scenarios involve the golf approaching the shot with uncertainty and a preoccupation with elements of their swing rather than focusing the mind on their desired end result.

In addition to our mind having the capacity to fix many of our missed shots, mindful body rotation plays a large role in our swing, especially for golfers that are looking to stop hitting the ball fat ( striking the ground before striking the ball).

GG Swing Method head instructor George Gankas compiled a very detailed golf lesson in this video, specifically identifying the aspects of body rotation that can assist golfers in avoiding fat shots without a complete overhaul of their swing style.

Gankas has assisted several junior golf students through his GG Swing Method training program, which aims to explain golf in a way that any novice player can take his lessons and tips to the range to be put into practice immediately.

This type of missed shot happens to be very common for most players, so don’t beat yourself up about it.

A fat golf shot happens when the player makes contact with the ground before impact with the ball.

The chief reason that golfers hit fat shots can be attributed to an early release in the golfer’s arms that cause the body to cease left leaning rotation.

When our body ceases rotation, we allow time for our arms to get in step and utilize the chest for proper release.

In situations that our body has not rotating enough to accommodate our arms on the left side, our golf club will come crashing down into the ground without ever having a chance to connect with the ball prior

The need for constant body rotation through this portion of our golf swing acts as the critical barrier that allows trained golfers to avoid this embarrassing yet common missed shot.

Some golfers will foolishly look to build speed in their clubhead during this portion of their swing which can also trigger an early release of their arms away from the body.

Some golfers over focus their minds to stabilize proper spine angling during the entire swinging process, which can also lead to habitually hitting the ball fat.

This happens as golfers focusing their efforts on spine angle having a marked habit of stopping the rotation of their body away from the shot and also can heighten their spine angle severely during their downswing which also causes players to strike the ground before the golf ball.
