The Phoenix Open (known as the Waste Management Phoenix Open due to title sponsorship by Waste Management, Inc.) is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour, held in late January/early February at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) of Scottsdale, Arizona.
The event’s relaxed atmosphere, raucous by the standards of professional golf, has earned it the nickname “The Greatest Show on Grass” and made it one of the most popular events on the PGA
Tour calendar.
The record for Waste Management Phoenix Open attendance was set in 2018, when a record of 719,179 fans went through the turnstiles, including a record 216,818 for Saturday’s third round.

The Waste Management Phoenix Open is the Greatest Show on Grass. The tournament is held at TPC Scottsdale, near Phoenix, AZ. Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm and defending champion Gary Woodland join the event in Arizona. In 2018, Gary Woodland beat Chez Reavie with a par on the first hole of a playoff on Sunday.
