Dealing With a Bad Shot Ten Step Rule

– Today, I would like to talk about what’s called the 10-step rule in golf. How many of us have ever hit a bad shot that has made us so mad that we’ve lost our tempo? We’ve lost to our anger. We’ve lost our rhythm and our head is spinning around in circles. Okay. So what I would like to challenge you for is I tell my students and pros do this as well. You’re allowed to be mad without throwing a club or breaking a club, but you’re only allowed to be mad for 10 steps. As soon as you hit your 11th step, that shot is now long gone. Now I want you to put your focus on the next shot at hand. So I don’t think it’s healthy to not have emotions. So if you do hit a bad shot, I don’t want you to smile and pretend like you didn’t hit a bad shot. With that being said, you need to be able to gather your thoughts.
