Learn Distance Control To Eliminate Three-Putts – Gary Gilchrist

A lot of amateur golfers struggle judging the distance on the greens, which leads to more three-putts. Using three balls, create a visual guideline for your stroke by swinging the putter back to the ball on the right and through to the ball on the left. If you want to hit the putt shorter, you’ll stop your putter going back before the ball on the right and it won’t quite make it to the ball on the left.

This drill will help you to learn a consistent rule: how far you take the putter back will determine the distance. The longer the stroke, the quicker the tempo while on shorter putts, the opposite is true so that the time it takes to make a stroke doesn’t change, but the speed does.
