Alec Ahrens and I take on the random club generator challenge at Metropolitan Golf Course in Cape Town South Africa. We could not have chosen a day with more wind to film this video but that made for some very interesting golf. This challenge requires you to use a method such as an App on your phone to randomly select the golf club you have to use for each shot you play until you get to the green. We played a better ball scramble format and we wanted to see how difficult this challenge would be.
This put us into some interesting positions such as having to chip with a driver and tee off with a lob wedge on a par 5. The wind was obviously a major factor and made for some interesting golf as well as some audio issues. Our goal was to shoot 3 over after playing a par 5, par 4 and a par 3.
This took place at Metropolitan Golf Course which is an amazing course with outstanding greens! This course is a good challenge for golfers of all levels and never disappoints. This course is surrounded by Table Mountain and the Cape Town Stadium on the Green Point Common. This course has 14 world class greens and plays very like an 18 hole layout. The large greens and wide fairways make the course very playable for the average amateur while still a test for the lower handicapper. The course was designed by Mark Muller and is a parkland in design with Bent Grass greens and Kikuyu fairways. #playthemet
We played the 3rd hole which is a 474m par 5 that has a landing area which is surrounded by water, the 8th hole which is a short 332m par 4 that played even shorter due to the 3 club wind being with us and the 9th hole which is a beautiful par 3 with water to the right of the green.
