Front 9 VLOG Rancho Del Sol

This is the front 9 playing Rancho Del Sol. Drone footage.

On this day, we played Rancho Del Sol in Moreno Valley. The temp was mid to low 70’s and not too much wind. Just perfect for a winter round in California. This VLOG will chronicle my front 9 and I’ll be posting the back 9 real soon.

It was my first time playing this Pete Dye design which are usually very tricky and challenging. The course was in good condition; fairway grass was dormant, but the greens were in excellent condition. I played the blue tees which measured 6,130 yards with a rating of 70 and a slope of 130. It’s a par 71 layout. Par 36 on the front 9 and par 35 for the back 9. The nines are very different. The front is in the flats with water coming into play for a few holes and the back 9 winds through the mountains not leaving much room to error left or right. It’s like you’re playing 2 different courses. They have been renovating and currently there isn’t a driving range to hit balls and get loose. The practice putting green was open so at least I was able to roll a few before heading to the 1st tee.

The course was in good shape. I got paired up with a good group of guys and that always helps. The grass was in its dormancy state but well maintained and played excellent. The greens were in great shape and rolled pretty fast and true. I got back at Pete Dye on this course. When I played PGA West The Stadium Course, I swear I could hear Mr. Dye laughing his butt off. I highly recommend Rancho Del Sol. Everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful and we played just a hair over 4 hours. I will be back for sure.
