US Open Qualifier Warm-up Routine – Wedges/Irons

When preparing for tournament rounds, it is important to get yourself mentally and physically ready for the round. You must stretch at the range before hitting balls and while hitting balls, you must keep in mind the weather conditions and practice with purpose.

If you have cold conditions, the ball won’t travel as far and you need to consider the adjusted distances which the ball will travel.

If you have windy conditions, you need to practice knockdown (stinger) shots, keeping the ball below the wind to minimize the impact of the wind on your ball flight.

Like with a pre-shot routine, it is important to have a consistent warm up routine. One that gets you ready for the event without having to waste too much energy wondering if you have prepared sufficiently.

In this video, we work through wedges and and short/mid irons, noting the number of shots per club and the type of shots being practiced. The warmup often incorporates alignment rods and applying tips and instructions received from golf instructors.
