This is one of the most biomechanically complicated techniques in badminton. It’s a serve that I believe is underused in the top ranks of badminton and should definitely be used more often at the lower ranks. Female singles players use this serve almost exclusively because they can use it to push the opponent to the back right from the beginning of the rally. The higher the trajectory, the more vertical the final portion of the trajectory. This makes it especially difficult to make good contact and makes smashing the shuttle more precarious. All players should develop this serve regardless of whether they use it, as it incorporates many fundamental movement patterns and can serve to improve other techniques in the game.
