How To Shallow Your Downswing – Simple Drill Using Driver or Irons

A steep out to in downswing is initially caused by issues in your setup, too much spine tilt away from the target and increasing on the backswing is a big culprit, take a look at my driver video where I analyse Rory McIlroy’s driver swing in 3d where you need to start with your spine more vertical like all tour players, and keep it that way to the top of your swing.

If you are all good on your setup and backswing then its the transition that will cause your out to in swing path, probably because you shifted off the ball too much on the backswing and didn’t get your weight back before you started down.

Look at my steps 1-5 videos especially transition to clear things up in your head. Then practicing the simple drill in this video will help you swing from in to out dramatically reducing your slice and turning it into a nice powerful draw 🙂 stuart
