Cleaning Your Running Shoes | Winter Shoe Care For Runners

Keeping your running shoes clean is super important, to make sure that you leave the house with dry feet, but also to extend the life of your running shoes.

Running in the winter is a messy business and so ensuring you clean your running shoes regularly and particularly when back from a muddy run is essential.

A quick breakdown of Lizzie’s tips;

DO
Use a hose to get off the majority of the dirt
Use a gentle hand-soap if you want to freshen up
Use a brush to gently remove dirt from your running shoes
Remove the inner soles for drying
Stuff them with newspaper to dry more efficiently
Ensure you dry the laces and tongue too
Let your running shoes air dry

DON’T
Put in the washing machine
Put in the tumble drier
Put on a radiator or too close to a direct heat source

Take care & see you next time, Lizzie & Sam
