History Makers: Inkster Sets Women's Open Scoring Record in 1999

Heading into the 1999 U.S. Women’s Open at Old Waverly Golf Club, the game was getting both younger and more international in nature. At 38, Juli Inkster was still looking to win her first Women’s Open. She did that and then some with a record-breaking performance.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) conducts many of golf’s most prestigious championships, highlighted by the U.S. Open, the U.S. Women’s Open and the world’s premier amateur championships. Based in Liberty Corner, N.J., the USGA governs the game in the U.S., its territories and Mexico.
