Cobe Life on the course
Golf Fails
In this episode of Cobe Life on the course Oliver and I show you why Putting is the difference between scoring well, and having an average day out on the course. It has taken me 4 years to finally realize that scoring well is all about Putting. I tell everyone to work on their Short Game, and I have spent the last 3 Seasons working on mine. Why it is so important? The better your Short Game, the better your chances will be to get Up & Down for Par. Everyone wants to improve their Approach shot proximity to Hole. Why are they? The closer you get to the Hole, the less likely you are to 3 Putt. Everyone wants to hit it longer. Even professional golfers like Bryson DeChambeau are trying to gain more distance. Why is distance important? Well the longer you hit the golf ball, the more likely your approach shot is short enough to attack the Pin, and potentially One Putt.
I have looked over the statistical histories of my best Rounds, and the only metric that is consistent with all of them is the Number of Putts taken each Round. Not one of my best Rounds required more than 30 Putts. My absolute best Rounds had less than 27 total Putts. Driving Distance and Accuracy didn’t seem to matter. Greens in Regulation percentage wasn’t a deciding factor. Even the number of Chips per Round didn’t play a Role. The only real difference between an Average Round, and a great Round was attributed to how well I putted that day.
If you are stuck inside, and don’t have access to a Golf Simulator. Don’t panic during the off season. Just purchase a Putting Mat, and dial in that Flat Stick. When the time comes for you to get back out on the Course. Whatever you might have lost with your swing, you will make up for on the Greens.
