Best thoracic mobility drill for the golf swing (Open Books)

Open books are a great exercise and to help you improve your thoracic mobility and your separation for the golf swing. The exercise however is often done quite poorly with little to no body awareness of what is actually moving throughout the exercise. To feel this exercise properly you need to block your lower body (belly button down) from moving as you rotate your upper back and chest to the ceiling. It’s important to feel the ribcage stay down as well to not allow too much rotation from the mid to lower back. This is an exercise that needs practice to improve your body awareness and begin to understand what is actually moving and what is compensating. Preceding this exercise with a segmented Cat/Dog to get the pine moving is also recommended.
