How to Hit with the Alien Golf Club from AlienGolf

This video shows the many types of golf shots that are perfect for the Alien golf club. In addition, this video explains the technique for using the Alien golf club.

Many folks think about the Alien wedge for green side bunker shots only. At one time the guarantee was that if you could not escape from the bunker in one shot, you could return the club for a refund. The easy technique of the alien club allowed quick success for frustrated players. With the Alien club, most beginners can achieve about a 90% bunker escape rate with just one practice session. While bunker play is the key selling point of the Alien club, many folks miss the other important ways this club could be used. Professionals consider bunker shots to be comparatively easier than most other shots, while high handicappers consider bunker shots to be exceptionally frustrating. Bunker skill seems to be in the category with whistling, snapping your fingers, or riding a bike. Before you discover how to do it, it’s endlessly frustrating. But, once you get the hang of it, it’s as easy as anything.

Lob Shots
The Alien club is great for short lob shots, even those from tight lies, hard lies, and lies in thick rough. The easy and uniform technique of the Alien club makes these rather difficult shots achievable for high handicap golfers. With its 60 degree face, the Alien club can provide flop shot type results, even from bare ground. Hitting a flop shot from bare ground with a traditional wedge is nearly impossible.
Here we see a 25 yard lob shot. This is the perfect working distance for the 60 degree Alien golf club. You need not carry a 60 degree wedge once you are familiar with the Alien club. These lob shots are easy with the Alien club.
Deep Rough
Here we see a lob shot from deep rough. This is a perfect application for the Alien club. The rather heavy Alien club makes such shots easy, even for beginners.
Here we see a short greenside lob shot from a very tight lie. The easy technique with the Alien club makes this shot doable for unskilled golfers. Most beginners could not use a traditional wedge for such a shot. Of course, putting from this distance is probably better than pitching for most high handicap golfers.
The Technique
With the Alien club, the technique is very simple and the same technique is used for all shots, whether in sand or not. The manufacturer of the Alien club specifies the following technique. Stand square to the target with the ball in the middle of your stance. Have your hands in a neutral position, not ahead of the ball or behind the ball. Keep the club face square to the ball or even slightly towed in. Do not open the club face or attempt to cut across the ball. Finally, hit behind the ball, accelerating through the shot and following through. Again, this technique applies to all shots, whether from sand or from hard, barren lies.
