How Barefoot Running Training Can Help You Run Better In Shoes

Maintaining strong feet and ankles is imperative for improving your odds of avoiding injury when running. Research has found that a big part of sustainably strengthening the muscles deep within the foot/ankle complex requires increases in sensory input at the underfoot. It turns out that being barefoot leads to the biggest increases in underfoot sensory input that directly triggers nerve networks to grow stronger and more abundant within the foot-ankle complex. Even better, this renewed nerve supply was found to be a big part of producing rapid improvements in the functional strength of the muscles that control the front of the foot and may be a significant contribute to helping you run with more stable landing control in shoes.
