DICK’S caught up with Dave Neville, Senior Director of Brand Management at Callaway, to get a closer look at the third generation of the iconic Big Bertha hybrid.
“This is our first hybrid with both Jailbreak and adjustability,” Neville says. “We first brought [Jailbreak] to the driver in the Epic driver, and it’s been a tremendous technology for us. What it does is connect the crown and the sole together, which makes the body of the hybrid stiffer, which allows us to make the face more flexible.
“We’ve paired that up with a 455 carpenter steel face cup to give you tremendous ball speeds. We also have a more efficient OptiFit Hosel — it’s sleeker, it’s lighter, it’s more efficient, and it allows us save about 13 grams which is then put into lowering the Center of Gravity and also into the Jailbreak System.”
In addition, the 2019 Big Bertha hybrid features new progressive head shaping that’s both visually appealing and easy to hit. Available in lofts from 3H all the way up to 8H with your choice of two Recoil shafts, this club will become a go-to for a wide range of golfers.
