2019 Shad Run has Started in the DC – Northern Virginia Area

I’ve been casting around for shad and finally got a little action this weekend so I am ready to declare that the shad run has started in the Northern Virginia – Washington DC area. They don’t seem to be in all rivers yet, and aren’t very numerous where they are, so prepare for slow action if you go in the next week or two. Also, the high water we have had the past year has really laid down a lot of mud, so be prepared for slippery, dirty conditions.
