Control Trajectory And Distance With Your Wedges – Stan Utley

It’s pretty common that people ask me how to hit a mid-range shot that doesn’t require a full swing. The key thing that I see people struggle with is that they try to take a full swing anyway.

You want to pivot and lever the club, then use the ground and deliver the club through impact with your wrists to increase clubhead speed. This technique, combined with a short and low follow-through gives you both distance and trajectory control.
