GRIP & ITS EFFECT ON HINGES | The Golf Paradigm

I love helping students to have a better understanding of how their body works and what the effects are on their swing.

In this excerpt I’m showing @eddie.andrews3619 how his arms and wrists work in his swing vs the way he thinks they should work. First we measured to determine his natural hinge pattern. This allowed him to realize where he was off and short circuiting himself. Next we discussed the movement of the wrists and forearms in the swing so he had a very clear understanding of what he needed to do and feel. It helps give direction but also eliminate doubt/confusion.

Because this change put him into a position his body works best it didn’t take long for the changes to take effect. Within a few swings he was seeing the results and getting the feels he wanted; ie no more short circuiting.

He’s done some great work on his swing and game and he’s come a long way. He also wants to learn more and continue growing and as his coach having someone with a burning desire to learn and grow is all you can ask for and one of the best parts of the job.

What is The Golf Paradigm (Pair-a-dime)?
The Golf Paradigm is a theory that encompasses a Whole-In-One approach to improvement. It begins with the overall paradigm; i.e. the game of golf. Followed by two parts that are always to remain in balance; i.e. the golf yin/yang – ‘improving’ and ‘enjoyment’. Helping to maintain that balance are the 5 elements of the game; the swing, club fitting, health/fitness, mental, and integration. Knowing which area to focus on and how the other areas supplement that helps to form the golfers ‘recipe’ for improvement. As the golfer improves their recipe, or what is focused on, changes and this is what allows them to reach levels of play they never thought possible. It’s not magical, but it’s close.
