Q.
The player’s ball is embedded in the lip above the bunker from their previous stroke, what are their options?
.
.
A.
The player can choose to play it as it lies, or because their ball is in the general area they can take embedded ball relief (Rule 16.3), or they could choose to take an unplayable (Rule 19.2).
If they choose to take free relief, they must drop their ball in the general area, within a club-length of the spot right behind the ball (the reference point).
