Winter Carp Fishing in Kranskop June 2020

A scenic venue surrounded by picturesque trees and birdlife… with catching as an added bonus.
We had some business to attend to in the Umvoti area (Greytown) and could not resist a nights stay at the Tot Hier Toe.
Winter Camping aint for the thin skinned and we went through 7 barrels of wood in the first night lol.
Carp and bass fishing are often regarding as being relatively slow in the winter months BUT I BEG TO DIFFER. We had managed to get 14 carp on the first day between the 3 of us and lost many due to the foul structure.
The dam is easy fishing and with it being small one can have an awesome day out.
This was our 7th visit to Tot Hier Toe, we have never blanked here and its relatively quiet and peaceful.
The fish shoal around and you have to make the bite count when you get it or you will wait for another hour or so to get another bite. You will notice on several occasions that more then one rod will go off at the same time.
We were escorted by Theresa from the Umvoti Municipality and the team (Rajiv and Nicholas) to the famous lake Merthley and spent some time there viewing another hidden gem which has tremendous potential.
We rushed back and got fishing n cooking 😉
Spending quality time with my brothers after the lock down levels were reduced made me feel somewhat human again.
All in all, besides the freezing conditions we had an awesome time and a very productive business and fishing trip.
