TaylorMade Men's Rocketballz Stage 2 Clubs

I’ve had the opportunity to hit the TaylorMade Men’s Rocketballz Stage 2 Clubs at a few range sessions as well as on a few courses and all I can say is this club plays extremely long. It is quite forgiving and just all around one of the best feeling clubs I have ever hit. I would say on average I am hitting this wood only about 30-40 yards less than my current R9 driver. Mixed with the 3-wood this is a perfect 1-2 punch to reach most par 5’s in two.

TaylorMade Men’s Rocketballz Stage 2 Clubs, I read that the Stage 2 3-Wood High Launch (17* loft) is really the “Tour 4″, which has the loft of a 4 wood in the length of a 3 wood, to provide a higher trajectory without compromising overall distance. After a thorough test on the golf course, I can attest that the 3HL works exceptionally well, from fairways with clean lies to the mild to medium rough with iffy conditions. The extra 0.5” shaft length doesn’t seem to bother me, and I am a very high handicap beginner. I actually swing this fairway wood like a rescue/hybrid or iron, by swinging down and through on the ball instead of a sweeping motion. The response and feel from the RBZ Stage 2 wood is a higher pitched “tingy” sensation, which is a cross between a driver hit and a hybrid hit. I have no complaints about this sound or the feel. The 17* loft really helps launch the ball off the deck, because it seems like almost using a hybrid or iron to launch it out of the rough and fairway. With my old 3 wood (15* loft), it always felt like I wasn’t getting enough air, forcing me to over-swing.

Some of the improvements over the original Rocketballz Wood is the use of a smaller volume head, which seems to help many others with hitting the ball off the deck. I have to admit that I stopped using my old 3W and 5W clubs because they were so hard to hit off the deck, but these newer smaller heads with shallow faces seem to focus a lot of the energy/force into the lower part of the face making it much easier to launch.

Overall: 5/5 stars, great build quality, love the graphics, the black club face easily scratches but it has never bothered me on my R11S driver.
