Jason Day PGA Tour & Australian Golf Review Ep 4.

Jday Aussie PGA Tour Golf Review. Whole Jason had the week off there was still a lot of golf to watch both in the US and in Europe. Cameron Davis and Aaron Baddeley had strong weeks while others prepared for the World Golf Challenge and then TPC Harding Park.

Jason along with many other big names had a week off but there was still plenty of golf to watch….

Roseville and Monash Club member and Davidson High Alumni Cameron Daivs led the Aussie charge on the PGA tour this week with a 14 under tied for 12th result. This moves him into the top 100 Fedex Cup rank. Cameron tuned pro in 2016 winning the Australian Open in 2017. Aaron Baddeley also had a blistering last round of 7 under to get up into a tie for 23rd while.

The tournament was won by Michael Thompson – world rank 218 – 180th rank for driving distance at 287 yards. You don’t have to be long to win!

How good is golf – How good is the Pix golf ball. The Taylor Made, Ricky Fowler project is catching on. The ball with signature ricky orange triangles is a great way to see how well you are hitting your putts. The ball itself is a Taylor made TP5. The latest tour player to be seen out and about with the Pix was young gun Matthew Wolfe with another respectable 12 place this weekend. While magpies traditionally just pick up coloured balls of the golf course I recently discovered they like the Pxi as well (not happy).

The European Tour got more focussed this week with the British Masters. It was won by Renato Paratore from Italy. Jason Scrivener finished at 5 under ties for 29th with Jake Mcloed making the cut and finishing at 3 over tied for 67th.

Which got me thinking….. How do some of the stats compare between tours?

Here are a few of the key numbers….

Driving Distance PGA Tour at 323 yards – no surprise – its Byrson. But wait for it…. European Tour – : 336 yards – Dean Burmester with Aussie min woo lee in second at 330 yards.
Driving Accuracy PGA: jim furyk 76.25 percent European: Ashley chesters 72.75percent Greens in regulation PGA: jim furyk 74.60 percent European: Connor Syme 76.28 percent Average Putts PGA: Ian poulter 27.64 European: Chirstian BEZUIDENHOUT hopefully i pronounced that last name right he isat 27.60 average putts per round.

My Conclusions: While there is not much between the tours -seem those Europeans are stronger than the Americans…

Coming up next week it is the World Golf Championship at St Judes. It is a star studded field. The Australians are Jason Day, Lucas Herbert, Matt Jones, Marc Lieshman, and Cameron Smith. This is the final round in before the PGA Championship the week after at Harding Park.

Harding Park – which will also host the 2025 presidents cup is an interesting choice. It is a shorter course that sits across the water from the better known Olympic Golf course in San Francisco and can be covered in fog for many hours of the day. It is extremely popular with the geese and also very accessible to the public AND THAT’S THE DAY
