Perfect Your Two Handed Backhand In Tennis With These 5 Simple Steps
STEP 1: The Grip. When you are in ready position your non-dominant hand is in control of the racket. The non-dominant hand is already in the position it should be in to play this backhand. The right hand (for right-handers) will slide to the continental grip.
STEP 2: Unit Turn: Don’t prepare with JUST your arms. You need to turn with your shoulders and core!
STEP 3: Knowing where your contact point is: The contact point on the 2 handed backhand for a medium height ball is NEXT to the body and in front of you.
STEP 4: Extending through and beyond the contact point: Use your left hand to extend through your backhand. Practice this by hitting left handed forehands!
STEP 5: Maintaining balance throughout the swing: First start by holding your balance on your back toe. After you have done this, draw your left foot to the side, land, and push off.
