Golf on an Iron Age Hill Fort

I play a local course at Painswick. 5 holes of which go through an Iron Age Hill Fort – that’s 2200 years old. Painswick was laid out in 1891 and is a natural golf course with the bare minimum of earth movement. It’s an inland links course but not a bunker in sight. The 18th is a new hole as the old 18th green was deemed unsuitable recently. The course may only be 4572 yards from the yellow tees but it has the potential to consume a dozen lost balls if you have a bad day. (don’t ask me how I know that fact!)
The par 3 6th is a top 100 in England hole. Without a drone I could not show it off well. Believe me, 4 is a good score when the wind blows.
I have been playing this course for 32 years so I am on first name terms with every blade of grass.
