18 holes @ La Cantera Resort Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas!

Hello everyone!

Hope you enjoy our latest VLOG at La Cantera Resort Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas. The course was in beautiful shape and is a classic when it comes to Texas Hill Country Golf. Going to Fiesta Texas as a kid, I knew La Cantera was next door. Despite loving all the rides, the games, and the water park…it was La Cantera that called for me. I’d heard Jim talk about it so passionately when I was young and it sent my golfing imagination wild. He told us about the beautiful conditions, the blind tee shots, the elevations, the deer, and how there was a valet for your clubs upon arrival! As a 7th grader only a few years into the game..who grew up playing munis or where ever I could….and who’d drool over the courses I’d see on the tour..this blew my mind! Funny enough when Marcus and I rode the famous Fiesta Texas roller coaster THE RATTLER as kids…I remember catching just a glimpse of the golf course at the roller coasters highest peak… just before plummeting down at 80 plus MPH! I remember shooting down the wooden roller coaster..feeling it shake as I threw my hand up in the air! Marcus looking over at me mid fall screaming, “you’re crazy!!!” And just from that glance…but a moment atop a roller coaster…a quick peak at lush fairways and a pin with its flag waving in the breeze…as to say hello….and Jim’s words….I’d daydream at the idea of what it was like to play La Cantera. How plush the fairways must be!! How epic the clubhouse must be!! And holy shit someone comes to take your clubs for you when you drive up!!? As a kid from the RGV, La Cantera always had “that” allure. That “fancy” course that course that was too expensive to play and much too far away. Needless to say, I was delighted and so ready to play the course when the time came. It been years in the making. It made my inner child so happy to be here. Tapping in to my 12 year old self and being grateful we made it this far. It made me so proud as simple as it was, to give myself something like a round here. It meant so much more that just 18 holes. If you’ve played golf long enough you understand that. The spiritual aspect. When the game becomes embedded into who you are. When it’s in your blood, your code, your very reason. I will cherish this round forever and look forward to playing with Marcus here. Next time I play here will be with my brother Marcus for sure! And hopefully we will get to say hello to our old friend the Rattler. Thanks for showing up on the course Jim…I had a feeling you’d be there. This one is for you. Thank you for today’s lesson. I’m truly grateful.

Headgame lesson for the day: Stay mindful of stress we bring to the course. Outside stress will present itself on the course. The game has a great way of letting us know if there’s something inside ourselves we need to process and shed some love on. Our resistance to having FUN is proof of that stress. The whole point of the game is to have fun and we are not…then we miss the mark. Let’s all remember that fundamental very basic part of the game. That’s our WHY and the very foundation of our mental/emotional game. Don’t need to tell you how our game suffers if the foundation is shaky. When the anti-fun monster shows up breathe, smile, focus on nature, and kick some ass! There’s too many birdies out there floating in the universe and someone needs to getem!!…Cheers!
