adidas Stycon BOA Teardown & Durability Test | Cutting in Half the First Laceless Tennis Shoe

Lets cut open the adidas stycon boa with a teardown and durability test. (Time stamps below).

Look inside the shoe with a foot doctor and former tennis pro BEFORE you buy

We first test the Stycon’s outsole durability with the Dremel test then assess the wear on the upper materials. Next we cut the shoe in half to dissect the adidas Stycon’s inners including the BOA closure, vacuum closure, midsole, heel counter and other tech.

The adidas Stycon BOA durability test was a fun exercise in understanding laceless shoe technology.

As a foot doctor I look at shoes for tennis a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the shoe’s functional attributes

The adidas Stycon BOA is a first for tennis shoe tech, offering a much different feel though the forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot. The adidas Stycon BOA is a laceless shoe with no tongue and a 3 layer fit which are all firsts for this sector of shoes. I was skeptical of this tennis shoe design but was pleasantly surprised when play testing them on the tennis court during a tennis match

Tennis shoe teardowns are a great way to experience the tennis shoe from the inside out- once you can see all the layers of a tennis shoe and how they work together you can understand how and why a tennis shoe performs the way it does
