Disc Golf Form Critique – Putter Standstill

Hi! I’m a former mediocre Am-1 player who hasn’t played in a sanctioned event since 2006. (I never stopped loving the sport and never stopped playing for fun. It’s the closest thing to religion I have. I, for instance, always capitalize “Disc” due to their significance to me.)

After discovering all the outstanding coverage of Disc Golf on YouTube in late 2018, I can’t help but want to get back into it.

My Achilles’ heel forever has been RHBH drives for power. I’ve never had it.

It’s all about training my brain to feel the lower body during a throw. I’m blowing up my form completely this spring and starting over. I’ve been doing putter standstills for 13 sessions now, each about an hour, so what you see is my progress after somewhere around 1,000 tosses.

In this video, the first toss (with a Fuzion Burst Deputy I dyed) glides to 200′ and parked the bush I was aiming for. It felt good. The next toss (with a Gold Line Gauntlet I dyed) I kind of fluff and it peters out a little left and short at maybe 180′. So here, I guess, you get to see a good (but not outstanding) and a bad example of where I am currently.

I’m in a bit of a period of regression right now. Three sessions ago I was feeling great and getting like 12 of my 15 putters out to at least 200′ accurately, some even 230′. I understand these little periods of regression are a part of this process and I refuse to get down about it.

I’m going to work my ass off until I get this. Yes, I have a long way to go, but since I love throwing Golf Discs it’s fun to practice. Wish me luck!
