Split Stance Chop – Golf Club

The golf swing occurs with different body parts moving in different directions (or as scientists will say-in different planes of movement). The ability to separate the upper and lower body, whilst moving in these planes is vital, and this exercise where the hips are locked in place and the upper body rotates will help improve this movement. 1. Take any wedge from your golf bag and grip it with both palms facing inward at either end of the club. 2. Stand in a split stance with one leg in front of the other. 3. Keeping your core engaged and hips stable, rotate your upper body and the club in a chop motion from high on the side of your front leg, to low on the side of your rear leg. 4. Repeat the prescribed reps and then switch legs in your stance and repeat for the other side.
