Scottie Scheffler moves within two of the lead | Round 2 highlights | Travelers

In the second round of the 2024 Travelers Championship, Scottie Scheffler carded a 6-under 64 to improve to 11-under overall.

One week after a thrilling U.S. Open, the PGA TOUR heads to Connecticut for the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands. This is the final Signature Event of the 2024 PGA TOUR regular season. Keegan Bradley returns this week to defend his title after setting the tournament scoring record of 23-under par last year. He’s claimed two runner-up finishes this season at the Sony Open in Hawaii and Charles Schwab Challenge three weeks ago. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will also be in action and looks to bounce back from his T41 finish at the U.S. Open last week. From the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and into the U.S. Open was Scheffler’s first time shooting five straight over-par rounds. Scheffler will look to claim another victory this week, as he has already won five times this season and finished T4 here at the Travelers last year. PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele will also tee it up in Connecticut this week. The World No. 2 has 11 top-10 finishes in 15 events this season, including a T7 at the U.S. Open last week. Others to look out for this week include Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Ludvig Åberg and Hideki Matsuyama.

toughest all the golf course today sheffler wedge into the [Applause] second like it might have been a little right of where he wanted it but it’s in the bottom now so one under early for world number one nice [Applause] shot on the same line with a little more heat behind [Applause] it side by side about 300 yards down the sixth Fairway oh that could be good well somebody wanted a buttery cut just got a buttery [Applause] cut well nice recovery from yesterday where things kind of fell apart here and he made six it was the only slip up of the day on Thursday take all we can get so max is left to the green here at seven here comes sheffler from 164 M they may be saying that a lot that’s right at it that’s that’s where you’re kind of looking and if it drifts right fine than that area right there they’re playing liftt clean in place in anticipation of the weather that may or may not come in but all of a sudden you give these guys greens the goodt and the ability to put the ball in their hand you have a drrive golf ball you can do whatever you want to with it doesn’t fire at a flag stick unless he is 100% confident [Applause] a little aggravated H able to capitalize and make two just a par for Sheffer here at the short little 11 what a drive from the this one’s beautiful got just shap it right into the middle of the Fairway really well done he’ll be able to go for this screen easily cuz you got to pick your poison if you’re in between this is a four iron back into the wind they don’t want to get it too far past that hole he was trying to shape that in from right to left pretty well done and a kind of a safe play with that putter gets it done just keeps playing Great Golf just chipping away yeah shot five under yesterday that’s smashed at the perfect height oh it’s off to the races too Gary boy you hit the same shot yesterday didn’t he that low Runner excellent shot keeps drifting away on him do that [Music] dude yeah you see from col in your stocking to a birdie all on your birthday there’s your birthday present Scotty shuffler backto back Birds little fist bump there but yeah the speed is just so good I mean when you see a guy like Scotty shuffler and and probably most of the guys on tour when they have that left to right but you know they’re going to let that thing just kind of get out sort of a high cut to hold this green he’s got that shot boy this looks pretty good it this is a push-up green so it just repels balls that don’t quite get on top I’ll be interested to see if he goes Leading Edge here Frank or uses the bounce a little more up that steep slope he handled it pretty well furick was 11 under off to 12 Sheffer now for his birdie continues like Aaron said just plaing along making birdies that’s three in a row it to 10 under he’s three shots back three holes to play here in round two [Music] okay good shot underneath the hole that’ll have a little break from right to left but Sheffer with a good chance at birdie here trying to get one shot closer a little Bobble there about three or four feet off the Putter and it just kind of took all the speed out of it nice t- shot right there from Scotty go get up oh what a shot is he in tune with his yardage yeah nice birdie there good finish for Scotty sheffler nice round to golf there a 64 to back up that 65 in round one so he gets to within two of the lead Scotty how’ you manage the rain delay what’ you do uh sat in the clubhouse with the family yep M benett were here so we just hung out and changed a diaper and tried to get him to stop grind but it was pretty cold in there so it was a little tough how would you assess the day both before and after the delay um well after the delay I came out hit some really nice shots you know was nice to bird 18 to finish and before that I felt like I played a lot of solid Golf and you know did some good things uh so it was overall I think pretty solid day Miss only two greens through two days I think four Fairways through two days feels like ball striking kind of back where you want it maybe after not as well last week yeah definitely better than last week I felt like you know like I said yesterday I found a little stuff in my swing and um feel like I’m seeing the breaks a lot better on these screens and um you know definitely feeling some good momentum from the last two days did you think the longer you waited they weighed out that you would not get back on or you thought they might I mean you’re always holding out hope just with the amount of daylight that we had and there wasn’t many groups left on the course and but you know the course did take a lot of rain so we were fortunate I think to get back out there thanks for watching the PJ Tour on YouTube for more videos click here to subscribe click here
