The PGA TOUR returns to Texas this week for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch, where Jason Day will attempt to defend his title. He claimed victory here in 2010, as well as 2023, and has three top-10s so far this season. The Australian most recently finished T18 at the RBC Heritage. Jordan Spieth will also be in the field, where he’ll be competing on the 14th anniversary of his PGA TOUR debut this week. The American claimed a T9 (2021) and solo second (2022) at TPC Craig Ranch in previous years. Spieth will return to his home state of Texas this week with confidence after finishing T10 at the Valero Texas Open earlier this month. The native Texan will attempt to break a long-standing curse, as no Texan has won this event since Scott Verplank in 2007. Others to look out for this week are Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim, Adam Scott and Jake Knapp

certainly doesn’t need the big stick off this first T but quick down to pick up the peg man from Canada trying to win on tour for the first [Applause] time right at it what a shot here at the first got off to a great start yesterday went out in six under 30 for the opening nine holes making it look easy well those were three really impressive shots leaning like this one’s a little right as well with needs a lot of speed needs to get close to this ball to create some spin the D shot the week but it could be a really good one oh exactly what he needed he’s going to remember this hole if he goes on to win later today just how he drew it up there Tom afternoon little out and in motion for the bunker shot but you can just hear the strike of that sand really pop the back of the club in there perfect J facing his first PGA [Applause] win mhm just like that yeah kind of like that Ian wow that is way up there ball above his feet and with his draw he’s going to have to start this well right to get it close and he is over hooked that he hates it yeah no damage though yeah as I was saying yesterday C the guys do hit these chips like aart they read it like a putt he’s hit another great one beautiful stress fre four there good good catch there col go ahead and tap this in for the birdie and for the moment back at the top at 21 under par [Music] now pendra just rinse and repeat another Beauty yeah absolutely beautiful 187 that time that’s a mile faster than last perfect 2009 he won the Canadian Junior long drive Championship 349 Y at the age of 18 well he is taking dead aim right at it a big time shot by pendri pendrith buries it a birdie at the 12 his putting has really improved this year this is a tough hole location Frank falls off left and right of it that’s pitching wedge for pendrith safe side of the flag oh wow there’s a big green see you get some long putts hit good two-part really good two-part doing a lot of good for a lot of people that’s gap wedge for pendri just left of it oh yeah does it stay though oh no doy false front got him CT four lethal yards does it go to the bunker not quite he may have a compromised stance though take a look at that hit again very very good I like that is pretty solid from there yeah sure is oh yes all around and in yeah that’s perfect oh he loves it Ian I think the shoulder’s getting better he’s driving it great really solidly struck at the center of the Green Oh solid indeed that’ll just keep feing finishes yeah little bit he’s going to have an eagle putt good speed and that left for birdie Taylor pendri is a PGA Tour winner for the first time and the Canadians over the last three years have amassed quite a number of Victories and that’s a special one for Taylor pandri his first Victory on the tour out comes his wife Meg and his son Hayes the disappointment for Ben Kohl’s who comes so close but for Taylor pendrith a career that has been hey buddy what a so affected by injury he can all let it out now fantastic absolutely fantastic very special Family Day those pars he made at 16 and 17 and then the two Puck birdie at 18 what a great [Applause] finish first time he’s won an event in 5 years he won twice on the PGA tour Canada but for the first time he wins on the PGA tour and he’s with Amanda balones you told us yesterday you’ve been here before you were ready for this moment it took everything you had explain what it was like to make that winning put for your very first PGA Tour win yeah it’s crazy you know uh Ben played great today and you know bird 16 and 17 um you know I didn’t hit my best iron shots um down the stretch but you know a good two putut on the last was I mean feel for Ben uh making bogey he played so well today but uh I’m super thrilled it’s it’s amazing shaking talk me through those huge par saves on 16 and 17 and what’s going through your body when you’re now down one with one to play yeah it’s was crazy you know I kind of had a jumper around 16 and that first putt if if I thought if I played it too high it wouldn’t come back um so that was a huge save and 17 hit a really good shot and it just spun off the front and had an awkward stance but uh it just curled in that putt on the last last second there which was Unreal just to give me a chance and um like I said uh feel for Ben but uh obviously really good Birdie on the last for me this is a career changer for you we’ll now see you at Quail Hollow next week but more importantly you get to do it in front of your wife Meg and your son Hayes McKenzie Hughes ready with a cocktail in hand we love that about you Canadians just how special is it to celebrate with all of them yeah it’s it’s super special I like obviously I haven’t had my best stuff this year and um to have them here they’ve been here through everything and um it’s super special it’s it’s you know their me my biggest fan and um support staff and and then to have this little guy by my side every week is amazing and um so I’m just super thrilled that they’re here Hayes can you say Daddy W say daddy we’re going to work on that one Andrew it’s okay A little camera shy for his first time congratulations on a massive 1. I almost missed it because 85% of PGA broadcasts are now commercials and when not full screen ones it’s half screen they never stop.
