okay it’s that time of year again it’s
what’s in the bag and for this season
there’s two new additions in key areas
of the
[Music]
bag okay so let’s get straight into it
and we’re going to start at the top of
the bag with the big dog and this is
actually the first new addition to the
bag you will have already seen on a
number of my videos me talking about
this driver so last season I used the
Ping g425 Max I abolutely love that
driver I had no plans to change it
whatsoever but when I started to see
some reviews for this ping g430 Max 10K
I just thought they all these people
can’t be wrong they were all waxing
lyrical about how good it is so I
actually went out and did a little bit
of an Impulse buy I actually went out
and bought
it without trying it but I got it in
exactly the same spec as my 425 Max
exactly the same shaft the same Loft the
same light everything so I was pretty
confident I didn’t need to go and
actually get fitted up for it and boy am
I not regretting this decision this the
Forgiveness on this driver is absolutely
off the charts uh and for me it just
means that I make really fully committed
golf swings because I’ve got so much
confidence that if I do do a slight offc
Center hit the results are never going
to be that
bad next up is three wood so because
I’ve got ping woods and ping hybrids I
have considered getting a ping 3-wood
for a long time but this
Cobra King Speed Zone 3 wood that I’ve
now had that it’s going into its third
season is so good that I just and seems
to suit me so well I just don’t feel the
need to change it whatsoever those rails
on the bottom of the sole just seem for
me to really help hitting it off the
ground and getting the ball up in the
air uh when you hit this thing well it
goes like an absolute missile so still
super happy with the Cobra Speed Zone no
need to change it not even thinking of
changing it so it stays in the bag for
2024 okay so next up is hybrids and I
have two hybrids in my bag and they are
both ping
g425 uh hybrids so originally I got
these to match my driver which at the
time I was perfectly happy with I don’t
see any need to get hybrids to Max my
new driver I’m really happy with these
uh hybrids I think pink
Woods hybrids are all absolutely
fantastic so I have the three hybrid in
19° and I have the four in
22° both with regular shafts so the
older I get you know the less sort of
stringent I am about having stiff shafts
uh I did go and have a fitting and I was
told that my swing speed was right on
the cuss between regular and stiff uh
but I just thought that probably that
trend is only going to go nearer to
regular as I get older and regular
shafts they just feel just that little
bit better I feel as though I don’t need
to swing it as hard with a regular shaft
uh so yeah regular shafts in both of the
hybrids ping g425 I mean just fantastic
Woods fantastic hybrids you can’t go
wrong with them so these two are staying
in the bag for
2024 okay so irons my irons go from five
to pitching wedge and as many people
know who followed the channel for a long
time I am a big fan of pxg ions I
believe honestly that pxg ions are the
best on the market now I have got the
0311 in the T version but in the
Generation 3 ions or the Generation 3
edition I have tried gem 4 I have tried
gem 5 and if you remember a video not
too long ago in the
Autumn uh I went for a fit in at pxg
Philadelphia and I tried out their new
0317 tour irons and they were the first
ones that really tempted me to move away
from these Generation 3 they were very
impressive and for me the reason I’ve
stayed with Generation 3 is that the
feel through strike the feel off the
club face on these gen 3s is just like
melted butter it just feels like violins
are playing when you H it out the middle
but you still get the ball speed you
still get the performance you still get
the spin and that’s really a combination
that is very hard to beat on the Gen 4
the Gen 5 and the Gen 6 in their 03 11p
I think they
are the ball speed the ball comes off
the faces too quick they’ lost a little
bit of the feel of the Gen 3s but on
those 0317 t’s that I tried the feel on
those was very very good and I was very
tempted to get a set of those but after
I kind of sat down in the cold light of
day I still absolutely love these irons
I hit these irons fantastic I just you
know just didn’t feel the reason to go
and change for the sake of just changing
if I’ve got a set of irons I’m really
happy with why change so for the time
being the pxg 0311 t’s in Generation 3
are staying in the bag but they had a
scare for the first time so is this
going to be their last
season okay down into the wedges so I
have three wedges I have a 52 a 56 and a
58 in the 52 and the
56 I have them both in the Ping Glide 3
z uh with 12° of Bounce now
I have
considered changing
these wedges not because I don’t like
them not because I you know they’re not
performing it’s just that I have been
thinking about going to slightly lower
bounce and the reason for that is that I
do believe I’m going to be playing a lot
more Links golf this year and I should
have some news on that at some point in
the season so for links really tight
baked out links lies 12° of Bounce is
quite a lot and doesn’t really suit that
very well cuz you find that when you
look down the sort of Leading Edge of it
is kind of a little bit off the ground
and then you feel like you got to get
your hands in front it’s just not ideal
but I love these ping wedges for now
they’re staying and if I do decide to
change them it’s not because I’m not
happy with them it’s just because I need
I feel the need to just change the spec
in the
wedges okay so on to the 58° and this is
the second New Edition for this season
so I have gone for a Titleist vogi wedge
why wouldn’t you Voki wedges are
fantastic and I got it in the sm10 in
58° in the jet black which I think just
I just love the way it looks I don’t
know what it’s just something about that
black finish that I really like uh and
crucially and the reason that I Chang
from my other 58 is and it goes back to
what I was just talking about in the
previous wedges I’ve gone down to 8° of
Bounce I just feel that I need less
bounce I love the way it sits on the
ground I know it’s going to suit Links
Golf a lot better if I do indeed end up
paying a lot more lyx golf later in the
season so I’ve been practicing hard with
this wedge I’ve been working on my short
game I absolutely love it I mean foky
wedges what’s not to like they’re
fantastic everyone knows it let’s go out
and buy
one so on to the last Club but probably
the most important and that is the
putter so I changed this putter just
over 12 months ago I was really
struggling with my putting so I reached
out to my good friend Phil Kenyon
obviously the world-renowned putting
coach getting a lot of focus at the
moment because he’s working with Scotty
sheffler uh and has helped turn Scotty’s
uh putting around and obviously Scotty’s
results have been unbelievable since
that happened so I reached out to Phil
and said look I know it’s a very sort of
wide openen question without going for a
fitting without seeing everything but
you know could you recommend a putter
for me that you know just is very well
balanced you know all all the sort of
things that you’d be looking for in a
Putter and he recommended this Odyssey o
Works 7 uh it’s a put it’s it’s a putter
that style I wouldn’t normally go for
cuz I’ve always used sort of like bladed
Putters rather than Mallet Putters but
I’ve got to say since I went to this
putter I’m super happy with it I really
like it uh and I certainly don’t see any
reason to change it whatsoever if I’m
not not hole in puts it’s not because of
this it’s because of
this okay so there we have this year’s
edition of what’s in the bag I’m super
happy with all the tools that I have at
my disposal I’m just chomping it the bit
to get out there and use them in
competition unfortunately although it’s
an absolutely beautiful sunny day today
competitions have not started because
the course is still not fully opened up
18 holes it’s still extremely wet and
apparently we need at least a week of
very dry warm weather and there’s no
sign of that at the moment on the
long-term weather forecast so right now
not 100% sure when this year’s
competitions is actually going to start
but it is what it is just keep plugging
away practicing trying to get ready for
when that time actually comes around
okay I’ll see you in the next video
