Acceleration profiles in the golf swing differ from those seen in analyzing the kinematic sequence. Yes, the lower body will ALWAYS move first in the downswing; however, when you look at acceleration rates, the hands, arms, and upper body are faster than the hips. The human body moves by different positive and negative accelerations of the center of mass in each limb segment.

Understanding how the body moves is a motor skill and feel technique that happens internally and is not clearly seen in the videos of positions. We can easily see these position changes, but understanding the distance rate of change the limb segments move during the 1.5-sec golf swing is more important. It is the difference between smooth and jerky golf swings, resulting in poor contact.
